Expenses of $190 got me 19,000 votes—or a cost of one penny per vote.
On Thursday, June 8, the editorial page of the St. Louis Post Dispatch had a lead article entitled "Nasty Nieves," which described the Missouri Sen. Brian Nieves' behavior beyond the pale of reasonableness.
I guess the voters in that district got what they paid for, as the Republican candidates spent about $1 million in the two elections.
I am familiar with that campaign, as I was the Democrat candidate. I had an expense of $190—for which I received 19,000 votes—or a cost of one penny per vote.

About midway in the time of the campaign, I was diagnosed with a form of Lymphoma cancer and instead of being at the polls on Nov. 2, I was getting about eight hours of chemotherapy. No one has ever written about my circumstance, but now after about seven months, I am doing better.
With all the publicity around the campaign, no writer has mentioned the two main issues. Although I was backing the status of most of the voters, no one wrote about it.

Issue One was: The right to life issue, and the second issue was my being a long-time member of the National Rifle Association.
