Honoring our Religious Leaders by KC District 44

Very informative of workshops and retreats spots available in our area from those who provide it.

Knights of Columbus members from several Councils making up District 44 took part in a luncheon held at St. Paul's Church in Fenton as they were recognizing the work of various religious groups who serve our area by providing a place to give workshops or retreats to small groups.

Families and communities who want to spend time together to pray through a loss, reflect on a significant event or celebrate anniversaries or the return of a relative from war, or recovery and renewal groups are just a part of the work of these who were honored by this activity.

Among the leaders who spoke were KC State Deputy, John Applebaum, State Advocate Dennis Bucheit, and many other state and district chairmen.

The Bishop Schierhoff Assembly 2110 Honor Guard performed the Flag ceremony to open the session inwhich close to fifty priests, sisters, brothers, and deacons were recognized for their work.  Each unit was allowed time to describe the work that they had to offer the community.

On a personal observation, I was drawn to greet a Father Joseph Weber who is involved in Catholic Education Grants because of my name being Weber also.  I was pleasantly greeted as an old friend and a hero to him because around 40 years ago, he said we met as my oldest son was in his class at Vianney High School.  He then enjoyed coming to our farm for an outing with my son and he has been following my activities ever since.  Among his many activities he was honored by his retirement on April 29, 2012, after 28 years service as a Chaplain Colonel in the MO National Guard and U.S. Airforce.

So I guess you could say that this is a small world when my group recognized  someone that had such an interest as he expressed.

So, I say now, to Fr. Joseph Weber, "You made my day".  Thanks for the memories.
