The road contractor had a good day last Friday, as most of the old North Street pavement was removed and a base of rock was installed. So a big phase of the road building has been done.
As the traffic increased over the newly placed crushed rock, it became a bit rough and one of the operators stopped by and used a big roller to level the surface and make it smoother. Thanks to him, the local people could make it through OK.
As I watched from my office window, I saw the happiness of two of the children of the operator who had been invited to ride along to see what Daddy does all week. I couldn't help taking a picture, as it was a bit unusual.

I hope we can get a few days of dry weather to get the blacktop down and smoothed. It is shaping up well today. So keep your fingers crossed.
