Forby Road Update from Eureka

The days of dust and mud soon will be gone on West North Street.

Great progress on this project was made since mid-November. And today they are working on North Street, but things are slow. Forby Road is still not open yet, but I think they are allowing it to cure a little.

I think they are doing the sidewalk work on North Street first, and then will remove the old road surface after Forby gets opened.

It appears that the last gutter on Forby Road might have been completed. If rain does not cause delay, they hope to install gutters on the West End of North street.

These gutters are important as they will be the forms where the 26-foot road will be poured. This will amount to at least a 10-inch total for the asphalt paving.

After this is in place, the concrete trail, or sidewalk, will be completed.

This has been a difficult task with so many unforeseen problems such as a leaky main line water that caused the deep soil under North Street to be not firm enough and almost a week was used to remedy it. I think you will be pleased to see the new installation.

It will look like a new world up here. The new road will be 26 feet wide with an eight-foot sidewalk or bike path.

Lately, the contractors put down two layers of about 4 inches each on Forby, and I am told they will wait until spring to put the top finish layer, which should include a finish layer of the entire project at that time. Golly, there are only two blocks on North Street, so the end is in sight, but weather will become a factor.
