Celebrating Father Schilli's 35th Anniversary

Activities at Sacred Heart in Eureka, May 19, with 250-plus attendees were uplifting.

Father Richard Schilli had a great day at on Saturday, May 19.  In his message in the bulletin for the occasion he said, "As you are aware, Monday, May 21, is the 35th anniversary of my ordination to the Priesthood for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

So it seemed very fitting to celebrate on what is known in the Church as Ascension Day, the Seventh Sunday of Easter, to commemorate the Risen Lord return to Heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father."

Sacred Heart was fully packed with parishioners, friends and relatives of Fr. Schilli as he presided at the Saturday evening Mass and then was recognized at a meal in Fr. Dowling Hall following the service.

Members of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus provided the honor guard for the service, and were well received. They were thankful for the air conditioner in the church as the formal suits and regalia of capes, swords and head gear were felt in the 90-degree weather.

Tim Jones, our state representative, was the lector at the mass and also the emcee at the meal and program after the Mass.  Among the citations and recognitions were statements from the Missouri House of Representatives, the Mayor of Eureka, numerous educators and teachers regarding the actions of the Sacred Heart School. Several students took part in this part of the ceremony.

All were fitting on Ascension Day as they were really uplifting in themselves.

The more than 250 in attendance enjoyed remarks from Fr. Lijo Kallarackai, Associate Pastor, as he led into the leading of the blessing before the meal recited by all.

So congratulations to Fr. Richard Schilli for his work and to Sacred Heart for their attention

The owner, of course, should do whatever he/she wishes to do on his own property. I'm simply curiousRead More about Wildwood's Planning and Public Work's "guess." How does farming a piece of property instead of allowing it to sit vacant actually decrease its tax assessments? It doesn't change the zoning. What is the zoning of the property? If residential, how much corn do I need to plant on my extra property to decrease my property assessment?
