Another Week That Was

Check out Americans Elect to see what they're about. It's very interesting—especially when you consider that it didn't work.

I looked forward to appearing on KLPW AM 1220 in Franklin County, and it went well. I took along a friend of mine from the and she wanted to chime in as well.

The result was a very good 45-minute session during which I was able to share my background and my position on several issues that I had already shared with you in a previous Eureka-Wildwood Patch blog. It gave me a good opportunity to address an audience perhaps unaware of my Internet presentations. They really seemed to appreciate the fact that I do not, and will not, solicit money for my campaign.

Coming home, I received an email from Americans Elect who have made contact with more than 4 million people and have spent in excess of $25 million to promote their national independent party presidential candidate concept. They wrote:

"There is a desire among Delegates and millions of Americans who have supported Americans Elect to see a credible candidate emerge from this process.

However, the rules, as developed in consultation with the Americans Elect Delegates, are clear. As of this week, no candidate achieved the national support threshold required to enter the Americans Elect Online Convention in June. The primary process for the Americans Elect nomination has come to an end."

So after all those contacts and all of that money, it was apparently all for nothing.

So perhaps my strategies are being proved right. In the words of Tip O'Neill, "All politics is local."  You can't get any more local than ME!

Keeping it local, I'm putting aside politics tonight to serve with the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Honor Guard as we help Father Schilli of celebrate his 35th anniversary in the priesthood. Congratulations, Father, and thank you for serving.

Keep listening and I'll keep posting.
