We ought to have a Missouri Attorney General who will stand up for our freedom when an overreaching federal government tries to force their will upon us. We need an Attorney General who will be our lawyer, not Obama's lawyer.
Unfortunately, Attorney General Chris Koster did not stand up for 71 percent of Missourians who voted against ObamaCare.
To show Koster's record of inaction on this important issue, the Ed Martin for Attorney General campaign now has an interactive timeline feature on our website that details Koster's repeated failure to act.
You can see the timeline by clicking here. It is also available on the page as a PDF download.
Is it perfect? Probably not. Will it please EVERYONE? Probably not. Don't like it? Tell us what you don't like and let's get it fixed. But honestly, this Teabagger nonsense about repealing the whole thing is getting more than a little tired. Nobody wants to go back to the way it was before ACA.
The "Components" of a Corvette are also "popular". It's the cost that people can't afford. Debating this is over. Continuing to mis-represent it is not. There is NO-CARE in Obamacare. It does Zero to Fix anything. (please list one thing it fixed) It is a Forced "Insurance Plan". That ,sir is not Health care. Forcing people to "Buy insurance " is a far cry from providing the actual Health care. We already bought insurance , many pay medical bills by their own checks. (only Doctors, nurses,Hospitals Drug mfgs can PROVIDE medical CARE, Not Obama) Obama's ACA gave this country a "TAX" ( A tax that is directly imposed on businesses) May I ask , if it is so popular, Why has Obama given over 2,000 exemptions from obamacare to UNIONS and many of His favored buddies. Once the public starts PAYING for this, and know that major Waivers and exemptions for Labor unions and other favored parties are NOT paying into the cost, then we will see just how popular it is. I have no doubt, your health care is already fully paid by Taxpayers.
It was ruled a "TAX". Once it is imposed (in 2014) as a tax will open up a whole new argument against the congressional powers of taxation without representation. B/T/W thousands of Waivers from the Obama-TAX Act now come under the window of Tax laws. (thanks Justice Roberts) One wonders whether all waivers are void, as the Income tax code does not allow waivers of Taxation to "Groups" unless APPROVED BY CONGRESS. The mere cost of this law will create a majority of American uproar, as their employers continue to lay-off or drop all private insurance.
While I’m not a fan of increasing taxes for anyone, the .9% tax on taxable incomes over $250K seems like a small price to pay for expanding access to health care to over 25 million people - including to our own friends, neighbors and family members. I’m also very glad that my secretary, who is a breast cancer survivor, will have guaranteed access to health insurance if she ever had to change jobs. I’m also glad that my kids won’t have to live in a society where access to life saving health care services is dependent on whether or not one has a job at a particular moment in time – especially in what is likely to be an uncertain economy for the foreseeable future. I know my job is not guaranteed and it is certainly possible that without Obamacare my family could be without access to health care solely based on the financial health of my company – which is never certain. Quick story – I once had lunch with a half dozen co-workers from Canada and we compared notes on what we were paying for health care. I was paying about 4 times what they were – can you imagine what I could have done with that all that money? Instead of sending it to the millionaire bureaucrats over at United Health Care in California, I probably would have spent it in the local economy. I bet it would have paid for a new deck or updated bathroom over time. Obamacare? Bring it on!
I once calculated that the we, citizens of the United States, spend more on health care as the rest of the 29 countries in the developed world combined – despite only having about 1/3 of the population. I also calculated that if we had changed to single payer health care like Canada did in 1971 that we would have saved about $12.2 trillion dollars over those 40 years. The way I look at it, our current system of employer based insurance places US companies and employers at an undue economic disadvantage to foreign companies – which is yet another reason why so many companies are leaving the US for thoe countries where health care costs are lower. The only long term option that can help us control costs, in my opinion, is a single payer system – similar to Canada’s model. I view Obamacare as a bridge to that model.
The cost of Health care for this country is based on "Lifestyles" Buying Health Insurance does NOT get you Healthcare. No one knows your lifestyle , nor do we care. But , your total like for a "universal" system tells all I need about your Goals. Other countries comparisons to anything USA does is certainly no way to justify changing the greatest "HEALTH CARE DELIVERY SYSTEM" in the World. I can tell you that many canadians come to the USA to get their emergency needs taken care of. THEY PAY CASH up front to get that. Your stories about a little tax is miles off. Ther are "forced" provisions and over 170 new taxes coming down the road in 2014. "You ain't seen nothing yet" Suggest you read the summary of the whole Affordable care act. Americans did not get one penny's worth of More or better care with Obama-Health TAX. Health Insurance does not buy ANY CARE for you or anybody else. That is what this Act lacks. It is a cost with NO SERVICE. You are intellectually "VACANT" on what the difference in Health Insurance and Health Care are.
I am for single payer univeral health care for the following reasons: 1. To lower the cost burden on American companies. This will make US companies more competitive in the global marketplace and save US jobs 2. To lower the crushing impact health care costs has on our growing debt. 3. To lower my out of pocket spending on health care. Why should I send my hard earned money to bureacratic millionaire paper pushers at United Health in California instead of spending it in our local economy? I have not seen a viable alternative that achieves these objectives - our "Greatest Health Care System in the World" is an economic disaster that is a crushing burden on all Americans. | Please join me in pushing for the only proven effective and affordable health care system -single payer universal health care now. Thanks for your support Paul
You list 3 items about universal health care. 1) HOW? will it lower the cost burden on American Companies? Cost of Health "CARE' starte with hospital care and doctor and Rx and wheechairs and kidney dialysis machines etc. Do you actually believe The Government should enter the Doctor and Hospital care by building Govt hospitals and training the Govt Doctors? If so, Great! Then we can all have a "Public Government Medical care" and a Free market Private medical care for all the Americans who are really seeking Expediant and top surgeon care. But, You and all those who want the public Govt care, should pay for it, and those who want the Private Health care should pay for it. Doesn't that sound FAIR? Let's vote on that. Than, go out and find the Doctors and nurses and Hospitals willing to do it!!!! You see, Larry-- Comparing America to any other country Is IMPOSSIBLE. America does not operate like other countries. May I suggest You go live and run whatever business you have in Canada or any country of your choice. The freedom you had to start and spend for your business "AS YOU DECIDE" is exactly the freedom you have to Pick whatever Medical Care you might want. There are over 250mil Americans with health plans. Many pay their medical bills with cash --as needed. They save over $10,000 each year not supporting smokers,Drug addicts, "accident" Pregnancies, Alchoholist, gang shootings. That is how medical expense should be treated. Try Britain?
re "how", no, I am not for a govt run health care system (although the VA is pretty good) I AM for expanding Medicare to everyone. I know my parents are happy with it as are most other seniors on Medicare. In fact, Medicare has proven to be one of the most popular insurance programs there is - much more popular than United Health Care or other for profit insurance companies (don't you have those "Claim Denied" letters?) The sign from a Tea Party event a few years ago that said "Get your govt hands off my Medicare" comes to mind. I'm not sure why you suggested that America can not be compared to other countries. I sure hear "America is the Greatest" often, so it seems that many people do compare the US to other countries. You said "America does not operate like other countries" I must admit you are correct there - which is why we pay nearly double what most other citizens pay. Maybe we should take our "America is the Greatest" blinders off and look at other health care systems objectively? Personally, I think that changing to a single payer health care system is the only hope to keep America competitive in the global marketplace. I'm sick of sending my hard earned money to paper pushing millionaires in California. That money should say here - in St. Louis, so that it can help our local economy. Don't you think? Thanks again for responding
We are A REPUBLIC. that's the first thing you said that makes sense. But, a Republic does not mean "majority" vote rules. A Republic means a nation of "laws" (that's the constitution") B/T/W you certainly have quite a vocabuary of labels. Was it you I wrote"sticks and stones may break my bones-but names will never hurt me."
Most things we buy in America are "twice" the cost in other countries. That is (was) because Amrican workers earned 3 X what most in other countries make. So it is incorrect to compare $ to euro or whatever. The price of Gasoline is $10 in europe, but no one can nor has the data records to actually calculate their "Universal Medical Costs" --My Personal experience can offer that Italian Govt medical controls who gets to live after age 70. They will care for the younger much quicker than the elderly. Now that is apparantly what you want. Fine. But we all should get that vote. The congress circumvented that vote by "FORCE" and that was wrong. Forcing a "TAX" passed as a Fee on business is going down socialism. They can technically force you to Buy a volt at $42,000 if they want. You would never be able to choose your car. Yet, that is exactly what obama Health TAX did. that is exactly what any universal Health law Does. I should be able to choose my Deductibles, Not govrnment. I should not pay or share in a smoker or drug addict or young woman prostitutes medical bills. If you want to share in lifestyle medical, I won't argue against your decisions.
re your statement: "Most things we buy in America are "twice" the cost in other countries", the basis for my comparison is percentate of GDP. Percentage of spending is an apples to apples comparison. The US spends almost 18% of total Gross Domestic Product on Health Care while most developed countries, including 36 that have higher health care rankings, spend less then 9%. Canada, at 11%, is still costly, but probably the only way to get cost any lower would be to move to a truly govt run system - like Great Britain has. It's far cheaper, and pretty effective, but the US public likely would not stomach the idea. Again, I calculated the 40 year difference and came up with about 12.5 trillion that US citizens have overpaid since Nixon tried to pass univeral health care in 1972. My interest is in the economic viability of our country and I have yet to see an alternative model that comes close to Medicare for all in controlling and ulimately reducing the cost of heath care. Thanks, Larry
Why don't you just move to the state of Mass. There you can enjoy all the luxury and benefits of "free" statewide Universal Health care. Try it, I'm sure you'll like it. I am sure there are the Kettering's and Washington Universities all over the world just sprouting with new health discoveries. Right? I lead a fairly healthy lifestyle. My family and friends also lead fairly healthy lifestyles. I have paid over $12,000 health Ins.yearly over 40 years now (out of my pocket as self-employed)-- That's $480,000 of health insurance. I am sure you or your employer has also paid that. You know what, I have used about $60,000 of that during all 40 years. That $480,000 will continue under any universal coverages. TAXED somewhere , somehow. My product/service must charge for the health insurance I pay. So my customers pay higher prices. That is the cost of universal care. HIGHER PRICES, because everyone pays it. An uncontrollable cost it turns into. We all want better something in life. This country allows that without dragging ALL Americans into it. I have said all I want on this subject. Nice meeting you.
