Monday Morning's Snow Storm Causes Havoc

When the weather forecast included snow flakes, who knew this morning's rain would make a bed of sleet underneath the snow that's sending vehicle drivers skidding in most parts of Eureka and Wildwood?

Eureka Police Chief Michael Wiegand said Route 109 from Eureka northbound to LaSalle Springs Middle School just opened at 10:05 a.m.  He said drivers should still use caution, or stay off the roads.

"The National Weather Service has issued a weather advisory until noon today," said Wiegand.

He said an accident on eastbound Interstate 44 at Antire Road also had traffic backed up to Eureka until about 9:30 a.m.
