Modern Wheat Contains Hunger-Inducing Opiate!

Are you addicted to carbs? Read this and find out why!

The vast majority of wheat produced in the world today is not genetically identical to the wheat of the past. Today's wheat was genetically modified in the 1960s and '70s to yield more crop per acre. Because of these genetic modifications, most wheat now contains a protein that stimulates appetite.

In an interview with "CBS This Morning," Milwaukee-area cardiologist Dr. William Davis referred to wheat as a "perfect, chronic poison" because it contains a new protein called gliadin, which acts an opiate.

"This thing binds into the opiate receptors in your brain and in most people stimulates appetite, such that we consume 440 more calories per day, 365 days per year," Davis said. An additional 440 calories each day equates to eating about 80 extra days' worth of food each year.

To put it simply, eating wheat products—bread, pasta, cereals, etc.—causes you to eat more food, more often. Gliadin's initial effect may be a stimulated appetite, but at the end of the year it also increases body mass and your grocery bill. Added weight can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, heart attack and diabetes. According to Davis, moderation is a fool's solution. He suggests eliminating all grains, because "that's when you see transformations in health." On the "About the Author" section of the website for his new book, Davis said he told patients to stop eating wheat in order to stabilize their blood sugar levels. The results were significant.

"People returned several months later and did indeed show lower blood sugar, often sufficient for pre-diabetics to be non-prediabetics," Davis said. "But it was the other results they described that took me by surprise: weight loss of 25 to 30 lbs over several months, marked improvement or total relief from arthritis, improvement in asthma sufficient to [throw away] 2 or 3 inhalers, complete relief from acid reflux and irritable bowel syndrome symptoms, disappearance of leg swelling and numbness. Most reported increased mental clarity, deeper sleep, and more stable moods and emotions."

Despite these significant results, solving the wheat problem is unlikely for the near future. The current production amount of wheat is economically ingrained. Interrupting that process to grow all-natural wheat would drastically reduce farmers' wheat yields. It is not feasible, according to Davis.

For now, focus on eating foods that are least likely to have been altered by the food industry. Davis suggests "avocados, olives, olive oil, meats and vegetables." He also recommends using coconut flour in place of traditional wheat.
