Families Invited to YMCA's Healthy Kids Day® Saturday

On Saturday, April 27, the Wildwood Family YMCA is celebrating YMCA's Healthy Kids Day® with a free community event to get kids moving and learning, and families living healthier.

At the Wildwood Y Saturday from 10 am- 1pm, kids can plant a vegetable to take home, tour a fire truck, make a camp wristband, jump on a bounce house, try healthy snacks and complete in a family fitness feud! Plus visit with a local Walgreens, library, Genghis Grill and local health providers. Kids can pick up giveaways and earn a balloon twist. It’s all part of a national YMCA inititiative to help help families find fun through active play and educational activities that last a day, a summer, and, we hope, their entire future.

Perhaps surprisingly for those of us who grew up on ball fields and in neighborhood backyards with no electronic devices, kids are less physically active and engaged in learning during the summer months. In fact, research shows that children gain weight two to three times faster during the summer vacation than during the school year.

In recognition of the day, we’ll offer camp and membership specials! Come enjoy and let your kids “take home” important messages. Join us at 2641 Highway 109 or call us at (636) 458-6636 for more information.
