Don't Be a Statistic, Employ Self Defense

Prevention is a big part of women's self-defense training. But if a woman ever needs to get away from an attacker, she should be confident in her abilities. Here's a chance to learn from an expert.

One out of every six women will be a victim or an intended victim of a crime. Don’t let it be you, or a family member. Learn how to protect yourself in a one-day Women’s Self Defense Class on Saturday, July 28 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Wildwood Y. This realistic class is for women age 14 and up.

Black-belt instructor, Chuck Luntz, who has 30-plus years experience in teaching self-defense, will teach the course. “Not being aware of your surroundings is so paramount; I teach them to do what they have to do to not become a statistic,” Luntz says. This includes using their voice as a weapon before the situation becomes hands-on.

Luntz will cover basic awareness, useful self-defense techniques and how to successfully punch, kick, and block in order to safely get away from an attacker.
