New Wildwood Vision Specialists Envision Bright Future

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Thursday at Wildwood Vision Specialists in Towne Center off Missouri Route 100 by West St. Louis County Chamber of Commerce members.

Among the businesses operating from area is a new one that delivers comprehensive ocular health care:  Wildwood Vision Specialists. Their grand opening on Thursday was celebrated with refreshments, snacks, a trunk show and discounted prices on glasses. They also held a drawing to give away a pair of sunglasses.

Wildwood Vision Specialists' doctors Kim Folwarski and Christy Hayes have both had more than a year of post-graduation work experience, and a combined six years of experience working in clinics throughout St. Louis and the United States. They focused their training in ocular disease and management and specialty contact lenses,  as well as pediatrics vision and vision therapy.

Hayes was born and raised in St. Louis, went to high school at Hazelwood West and received her bachelor's degree in graphic arts at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. After working at a private optometry/ophthalmology practice during her undergraduate education, she decided a career in optometry was her true vocation. She graduated with her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Missouri-Saint Louis. At graduation, she was presented with the 2011 GP Clinical Excellence Award.

Also born and raised in St. Louis, Folwarski went to high school at Rosati-Kain High School. She then went to Southeast Missouri State University to earn her bachelor's degree in biology. After shadowing a few doctors, she said she decided on optometry due to  the wide range of patient care. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2011 at the University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry, where she received the Charles Matlock Award for Excellence in Pediatric Optometry.

Eye wear for children, men and women is available at the new facility, which is located at 2751 Fountain Place, Suite 2.
