Sporting Goods Company to Kick Off in Eureka

Hibbett Sporting Goods, Inc., an Alabama-based sporting goods company operating as Hibbett Sports, announced its newest Hibbett Sports store will be opening in Eureka.

Eureka soon will be the newest location for Hibbett Sports, an Alabama-based sporting goods company established in 1945. The new store will occupy the retail space at 157 Eureka Towne Center Drive, formerly rented by Carol's Hallmark Cards & Gifts. It will be next door to GNC in the mall.

Jeff Rosenthal, president and chief executive officer of Hibbett Sporting Goods, Inc. said in a Thursday news release about the opening:  “We're thrilled to be opening a new store in Eureka. People in Eureka take their sports seriously, and we plan to give them the sporting goods products and know-how they've been looking for.”

Hibbett Sports managers indicated they plan to employ approximately eight full- and part-time team members.

“The city (of Eureka) is very pleased that a national chain like Hibbett Sports is opening in Eureka Towne Center. With three elementary schools, a middle school and a high school within less than 5 miles, I believe they will be very busy serving our community’s needs. Not to mention all the grown-ups that enjoy running, hiking and bicycling in our area,” siad Julie Wood, Eureka director of economic development.

Hibbett Sporting Goods, Inc. is an operator of more than 800 full-line sporting goods stores in small- to mid-sized markets, most of them located in the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest.

Hibbett Sports stores offer athletic equipment, footwear and apparel, including brand-name merchandise. Clothing types include baby, toddler, kids, youth, women's and men's. An online search revealed the company also sells items such as:

  • Caps
  • Sports Bags
  • Blankets and Bedding
  • Jewelry
  • Jackets
  • Collectibles and Memorabilia, such as inscribed balls and photos
  • Electronics
  • Pennants, Banners and Flags
