Retail Humor: Future Hibbett Sports in Eureka Hops

A store hours' sign is up, and at least mannequins are present at the future Hibbett Sports location in Eureka—and even strategically placed!

National sporting goods retailer Hibbett Sporting Goods, Inc., operating as Hibbett Sports, opened its newest store in Excelsior Springs, MO, on Friday. It will employ approximately eight full and part-time team members, according to the company's website.

Eureka and surrounding residents await the firm opening time for the Hibbett location taking shape locally as well at a shopping center just off Interstate 44.

Missouri has been a target of the company’s expansion for several years now. With the addition of the Excelsior Springs location, the company has 27 stores open in the state. Of those stores, Sikeston was the first to open in 1996. The Excelsior Springs location joins a growing number of Hibbett Sports stores in northwest Missouri, including stores in Warrensburg, Sedalia and Maryville.

In business since 1945, Hibbett Sporting Goods, Inc. operates 800-plus sporting goods stores in small- to mid-sized markets, predominantly in the Sunbelt, Mid-Atlantic and the lower Midwest. Each store typically lies within 150 miles of another store location, according to Hibbett sources.
