Restaurant Review Round-Up: El Nopal

See what people are saying about restaurants in the Eureka and Wildwood area.

This week's review round-up is grabbing a booth at El Nopal, located on Central Avenue in downtown Eureka.

Before we get to the reviews, here's a description of the establishment, courtesy of our directory

"From enchiladas to fajitas to tamales, the flavors and aura of Mexico have made their home in Eureka at El Nopal, or 'The Cactus.' In a dessert mood instead? Well, there's sopapilla and fried ice cream. As El Nopal's menu says: `Delicioso Amigos!'"

From Patch

Mark Jensen: "Wow, what a downfall. We used to visit El Nopal frequently - service was very good, food was decent for price, and atmosphere was pretty good. Overall, the value was excellent. Over the past 3 years, it's declined so much that we don't visit."

Jo Beck: "We love El Nopal! The service is good and it is an excellent value."

From Urban Spoon

Sam Anderson: "This is our favorite Mexican restaurant. The service can be a bit dicey if you go during peak hours but most restaurants have difficulty when they are slammed with a line out the door. ... I really like the fajita casadia and the chimichangas. The real star though is the guacamole."

CrazyK: "We kept trying this place but have given up. They were really good a few years ago but cannot get it right anymore. The margaritas are terrible and the food is just bland. Service is barely adequate. Won't recommend it."
