New details have emerged about the prospective buyers of The Legends Country Club with a re-opening date now estimated for June 15, provided the sale of the business goes through.
Eureka council members Don Beckerle and Shannon Britt attended an informational meeting held at the club by the soon-to-be owners May 14. Beckerle said golfing on the Legends 18-holes could resume as soon as one or two days after it re-opens.
Beckerle also confirmed the partnership that is under contract to buy the property, which consists of NavPoint Golf Group; Jeff Whitfield with Integrated Golf Services in Columbia, Mo.; and Colorado-based Niebur Development.
Interest in the fate of the country club has been high since it closed in February following the death of owner Carmelo Natoli in November.
Several hundred people attended the meeting and the two councilmen said overall the new owners were received positively.
He estimated that the cost of club dues would be similar to what they have been in the past, with a full membership falling in the $400 per month range.
The country club’s other services, such as the restaurant, may not be in full swing until a week or two after the June 15 opening, he said.
