Mr. Freeze Roller Coaster Surprises Riders by Halting

Although the typical ride on at is 59 seconds or less, some passengers on Thursday got an even shorter ride when the coaster stalled. KSDK-TV Channel 5 reported the roller coaster made it to the top but stopped on the return swoop in the low spot of the ride. Passengers were escorted off the ride in a total of 17 minutes.

Six Flags St. Louis public relations manager Elizabeth Gotway told KSDK the issue could have been prompted by a power surge. The ride did not get enough power when it came out of the gate, she said.

Gotway said Mr. Freeze is designed to stall at a certain point so passengers can be safely unloaded. She also said the practice was not uncommon and there was no safety hazard.

According to KSDK, Gotway's released the following statement Thursday:

"Due to a brief power interruption earlier today, Mr. Freeze: Reverse Blast stopped in a low point of the ride, as it is designed to do as part of its internal safety systems. All guests were safely unloaded, and after standard safety checks by park staff, the ride will re-open."

Mr. Freeze roller coaster is back running.
