Legends Country Club Has "New" New Owners

A previous partnership to re-open the club has fallen through, but a new pair of owners have stepped forward and hope to have it up and running by July 20.

The Legends Country Club in Eureka is finally set to re-open on July 20, but it won't be under the previously announced partnership of three golf and real estate companies.

The club had been slated to open on June 15, but that deal fell through. Now Legends residents Matt and Sue Iovaldi, backed by a group of investors, have stepped up to the tee instead. They hope to close on the purchase of the property from the Natoli family July 19.

The Eureka Board of Aldermen discussed the change-up Tuesday, approving a pair of liquor licenses for the golf course and country club. The Iovaldi's also made the news public with a flier mailed to the subdivisions' residents.

The flier noted that they were "long-time residents" of Eureka and eager "to restore the club to be an environment the community will be proud of."

Prices for the membership were also revealed and will be similar to what they have been previously. A full family membership will run $425 per month while an individual package will go for $375. Senior and junior members will receive discounted rates in the $325-350 range.

The 18-hole golf course and country club closed in February after its owner Carmelo Natoli died last November.
