Hitter's Choice Batting Cages Hit by Hard Times

The Eureka sports-related business closed operations this weekend.

Owners of an athletic training and instruction facility located at 534 Workman Road in Eureka ceased operating this weekend. A Eureka-Wildwood Patch reader, who was trying to reach the Hitter's Choice, indicated the business phone number was disconnected. Patch discovered the same.

The business shared the building that houses The Great Midwest Antique Mall, whose managers confirmed with Patch that Hitter's Choice had closed.

Phil Berry, a Eureka resident, coaches his twin daughters’ softball team and said they have used Hitter’s Choice several times. "It was always busy, which makes it odd that it would close, especially when baseball and softball season is kicking into high gear," he said.

"Now we will have to drive at least 20 minutes if we want to use batting cages for hitting practice, which makes it more difficult for the families."

The facility was located just east of Six Flags St. Louis. The staff offered cages for hitting, personal training and gym exercise instruction. They also offered private instruction with hitting and pitching, as well as cage rentals for coaching and athletic training.
