Chevys Shuts Down; Mexican Meals Abound in Eureka, Wildwood

The Fresh Mex restaurant closed its Ellisville location this week. But for Mexican food enthusiasts, the nearby area has several Mexican options, including one restaurant that just opened last week.

Chevys Fresh Mex said "adios" to Ellisville patrons. The Chevys location, in the Dierbergs shopping plaza at Clarkson and Clayton Roads, closed its doors to operations this week, and appears to have all items marked for an auction.

Thanks to Eureka-Wildwood Patch reader Mikel Garrett for cluing Patch in on the unfortunate business closing.

For those still looking for a Chevys' fix, locations remain in Olivette; St. Louis Mills; O'Fallon, MO; South County and O'Fallon, IL. The St. Charles Chevys location also is closing by the end of September.

However, Eureka and Wildwood diners have several Mexican food options in their backyards.

Not that many months ago, Chimi's Fresh-Mex opened in Wildwood.

And back in March, when Patch readers were asked to vote for their favorite Mexican restaurants in West St. Louis County, the following favorite spots were nominated:

Vallarta won the Patch contest for best Mexican food, while Chimi's won a different Patch contest for best margaritas. The best nachos award from Patch readers went to Chick-N-Elly's in a third contest.

Longtime Mexican food samplers also have been going to El Nopal in Eureka. And El Gave in nearby Pacific often gets diners' nod of approval in conversations.
