U.S. Army Specialist Jeffrey L. White Comes Home

U.S. Army Specialist Jeffrey L. White, Jr., a 2008 Pacific High School graduate who was killed during his deployment in Afghanistan, will be escorted home from Lambert-St. Louis International Airport to Pacific on Saturday, April 14th.  His plane is scheduled to arrive at 11:00 a.m. It is very difficult to determine Jeffrey’s arrival time into Pacific.  A rough estimate would be sometime around 12:00 p.m. The route from Lambert to Pacific will be Highway 70 to Highway 270 to Highway 44 (westbound). From Highway 44 West, they will take Exit 261 (Six Flags Road/Allenton) exit and proceed West on Route 66 into the City of Pacific (Osage Street). They will turn left on North Fourth Street and travel South for one block. They will turn right on Union Street and travel West to Bell Funeral Home. Bell Funeral Home is located at 709 West Union Street in Pacific.

A large gathering will be assembled on the Central Avenue Overpass in Eureka. They will be forming around 11AM.

The community is encouraged to line the Pacific route to honor this fallen hero as he is escorted to Bell Funeral Home.

After Jeffrey is escorted to the funeral home, there are no further services for the public on Saturday.

Many, many individuals have asked how they can help support the White Family during this time and Jeffrey’s return.  There is one major activity being organized that involves lining Jeffrey’s route here in Pacific to Bell Funeral Home with large U.S. Flags.  This activity will begin on Friday, April 13th, at 3:30 p.m., with a staging area across the road from Third Rail Restaurant at the east end of town.  There may be a thousand or more flags to put up, so arrive when you can.    Help is needed not only in putting the flags up, but also with taking the flags down after the escort goes through town.

Visitation for the public will be held at First Baptist Church in Villa Ridge (Highway M) on Tuesday, April 17th, from 4:00-8:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church in Villa Ridge on Wednesday, April 18th, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will immediately follow the service at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
