Mammography Van and Eureka Fire Protection District’s Breast Cancer Awareness Efforts

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

is promoting Breast Cancer Awareness Month throughout October with several events.

1. EFPD is selling pink t-shirts to promote awareness throughout October and all year long. Shirts are $20 each, and proceeds are being donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the St. John's Mercy Show Me Healthy Women Program. Call the Eureka Fire District at 636-938-5505 to order. 

2. EFPD is sponsoring the St. John's Mercy Mammography Van for on-site screening. The Van and EFPD will be on the parking lot on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. To schedule an appointment call 314-251-6400. If you do not have health insurance and would like to schedule a mammogram, call 314-251-6400 to see if you quality for a special program funded by Susan G. Komen for a Cure and Show Me Healthy Women.

Helpful Reminders:

  • It is recommended to have one mammogram between the ages of 35 and 40. Annual mammograms should begin at 40.
  • The exam cost is billed to your insurance company directly, but you may be responsible for paying a co-pay. Please check with your insurance provider to determine your coverage of the exam.
  • Please bring your insurance card and photo ID to your appointment.
  • Your mammogram appointment should take about 20 minutes.
  • The results of your mammogram will be mailed to you as well as your doctor.


3. You may see Eureka firefighters sporting a special tee shirt throughout October; they have a special blue t-shirt supporting breast cancer awareness that they will wear during October.
