A Time To Heal
After nine long months since her Stage III breast cancer diagnosis, the breast cancer warrior is finally beginning to heal. Enjoy her inspiring insight about this phase of her journey as she strolls along the beach on Sanibel Island.
A Time to Heal
If you are from my generation, you have probably seen the original Footloose movie and will smile with fond memories as you recall Kevin Bacon’s character quoting the bible verse about “There is a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance.”
The verse also says there is a time to tear and a time to mend. As I walked along the beach early this morning, I was very contemplative about this last 9 months of my life since my diagnosis. We all go through the gamut of emotions on our journey through breast cancer...there is a time to weep, a time to laugh, a time to mourn, a time for peace and most importantly, a time to heal. I have finally reached my time to heal and this morning, I was overcome with gratitude to have made it through the roughest part of my journey.

As I strolled along the surf’s edge I quickly realized that the sun would not peek over the horizon to start the day. It was hiding behind huge cloud bank. Fighting my initial disappointment for an amazing photo op, I decided to be patient. The cloud bank was limited in size and at some point I knew I would be able to see the sun. Right before my eyes, sun beams illuminated the gray skies, shining from behind the cloud. It was an overwhelming display of nature at its finest. Slowly, the sun continued to rise behind the cloud until it filled the sky with its brilliance. It warmed my face, my body, my soul and I it became apparent to me: now is my time to heal.
