First Day Dismissal Goes Smoothly for Students at Blevins

The first day of a new school year can be a hectic one for teachers and administrators, especially as they make sure every student arrives and leaves safe and on time.

At around 4 p.m., the approximately 460 students at Blevins Elementary School were dismissed for the first time this year and streamed out the doors into a parking lot filled with waiting parents and yellow school buses.

Principal Sharon Jackson said she visited several classrooms Tuesday and saw a lot of excitement among the students. A busy day, but one Jackson said "couldn't have been better."
