Saint Louis Ballet Presents Romeo and Juliet June 24-26 at the Touhill.

Performance marks culmination of 10th anniversary season.

The 400-year-old tale of woe of Juliet and her Romeo is timeless, universal, and marks the finale of the Saint Louis Ballet’s 10th anniversary season.  Shakespeare’s romantic tragedy Romeo and Juliet will make its St. Louis premiere in a production choreographed by Saint Louis Ballet Artistic Director Gen Horiuchi and set to the haunting music of renowned composer Sergei Prokofiev.

“This performance is about the excitement and the power of young love,” says Horiuchi. “It’s about an emotion that is so strong that it can take your breath away, and the audience will feel that passion in the artistry that comes to life in this amazing production.”

One of the most popular ballets of all time, Romeo and Juliet is the tale of star-crossed lovers which has inspired music and dance, poetry and movies. Romeo and Juliet guarantees to captivate audiences with its forbidden romance and intense turmoil.  This production is sure to be a highlight in an already successful ten-year anniversary season.

Romeo and Juliet will be performed at the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center’s Anheuser-Busch Hall Auditorium located on the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus. Evening performances on Friday, June 24th and Saturday, June 25th start at 7:30 pm with afternoon matinees at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 25th and Sunday June 26th.
