Wildwood Woman Still Searching for Missing Tortoise

Viola Haegele is asking residents of Wildwood and Chesterfield to remain on the look out for Leo, who went missing June 12.

Viola Haegele is asking people who live in Wildwood and Chesterfield to continue keeping a look out for her long-time pet tortoise Leo, who went missing in the area about three weeks ago.

Haegele said the large land tortoise, who weighs 35 lbs. and has a dark shell 36 inches across, could wander as much as five miles in a day in search of food.

Leo's disappearance is the result of his own natural curiosity. Haegle had boarded him at a friends house in the Glencoe area while she did some renovations on her own property and he managed to bust out of the backyard of his temporary home.

If you have any information on his whereabouts, contact Haegele at 314-565-9103. A reward is being offered for his return.
