Turning the Tables: Patch Editor Locks Herself in Hot Car

Spend 25 minutes in an un-air-conditioned car and you will think twice about leaving your pet in the same situation.

After Chesterfield police cited a second person at the Chesterfield Mall on Aug. 1, accused of locking her dog in her car on a hot day, we thought it would be worth sharing this tale from a fellow Patch editor. Click the link for her video.

We've heard the warnings: "Don't leave your pet inside your car on hot days."

But it still happens.

So Patch editor Brooklyn Lowery decided to take on the issue for herself. She locked herself in her car at 10 a.m. on a 90-degree day for 25 minutes and filmed the results.

Watch Brooklyn's video here.

Why do folks still keep their pets in hot cars? Have you ever left your dog in the car when you ran in somewhere? Have you ever called the police on someone who did?
