Rally Squirrel Lives Dog's Life in Wildwood

The real rally squirrel has a curled tail, cute nose and a bark. Look who won one of the categories at the Patch Pet Party at Halloween in Wildwood Monday.

Move over Cardinals' Rally Squirrel — St. Louis' real good luck charm was found at the pet parade and costume contest via the Patch Pet Party at Halloween held in Wildwood Town Center Monday night.

Lucy is a 5-year-old Pug owned by Wildwood residents Jenny and Jim Thomure. The trio walked away as winners of the Pet Duo category in the contest.

As Cardinals' fans, the Thomures said Lucy has many other costumes besides a squirrel outfit. Monday evening, Jim also was decked out in Cardinal spirit wear, adding to a theme that caught and held the attention of the contest's judges. Perhaps the acorn part of the costume earned Lucy extra points!

Interestingly, the Thomures had the squirrel attire for Lucy prior to the recent Rally Squirrel craze.

Lucy's prediction was that Albert Pujols is staying in St. Louis, according to Jim's interpretation of Lucy's barked response to the question. Jenny said their wish is that Pujols will stay longer, so Lucy must be picking up on that vibe.

Editor's Note:  Additional Patch coverage of the event and other winners also will be published through lots of photos.
