Pacific Fourth of July, Fireworks Still Set for Saturday

Fourth of July activities postponed from July 1 due to unusually dry weather conditions are still planned to go in nearby Pacific on July 14. Tributes to soldiers is the theme; fireworks start at 9:30 p.m.

and residents who would like to take in patriotic activities and fireworks can head to Pacific's Main City Park, 700 Congress Street, on Saturday.

Activities include, according to Pacific's website:

  • Walking parade in the City Park; prizes for the most Patriot Decorated Person, Baby Stroller, Wheelchairs. No bicycles or skateboards allowed in the parade
  • Vendors Booth
  • Patriotic Music
  • Food and Drinks: hot dogs, hamburgers, fried tacos, popcorn, snow cones, and frozen treats, cotton candy, watermelon, nacho cheese/chips/dip, lemonade, tea, soda, water and baked goods.

From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Children’s Activities includes pony rides, bounce house, face painting and animal balloons, Creative Critter’s Sand Art Booth and glow in the dark items, including free wash-off tattoos.

From 6 p.m to 8 p.m. Walking Parade around the center loop of the park on the track. Uncle Sam on stilts will be in the parade passing out American Flags.
Everyone is welcome to walk in the parade.

From 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Women’s American Legion Post 320 will do a Tribute to fallen soldiers that have given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. This will honor 23 names on the Memorial Wall by Bank of America, including:

  • Riley Baker
  • Brian Woods
  • Jeffrey White

Roll call of names, National Anthem song and prayer, lighting of the candles and ringing the bell will follow.

The fireworks display will occur between 9:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Ours is named, "Turpeester"... I'm sure whatever he is doing he is having a fun time, out running around... I will pray for Leo making it back to you!!! Good luck!

How does farming a piece of property instead of allowing it to sit vacant actually decrease its tax assessments? It doesn't change the zoning. What is the zoning of the property?
