MoDOT's Barrel Bob Overseeing Route 109 Repaving

The repaving is forcing the closure of one lane overnight and will continue into the fall.

Fresh coats of asphalt have been laid down on portions of Route 109 near Eureka as part of MoDOT's plan to repave the road between I-44 and Route 100

The agency has been shutting the route down to one lane at night and guiding traffic via a pilot car, and it's a hassle that the area's drivers will have to endure for a little bit longer.

MoDOT is predicting the work will last into fall of this year. You can check out their online Traveler Information map for work zone information and MoDOT's St. Louis website for more information on the project itself.

Luckily, the agency has put their best man on the job—Barrel Bob. Constructed out of safety cones, the road work mascot (who has his own Facebook page) appeared across from Eureka High School earlier this summer.
