There are quite a few amazingly talented artists around town, and the Schnucks Marketplace team in Wildwood wants to show them off! Stop by Sunday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

This weekend, grocery shoppers will find creative surprises at one local store.

The Schnucks Marketplace at Wildwood Crossing is showcasing talented West St. Louis County artists with an art gallery in the store on Saturday and Sunday this weekend.  The artists are displaying different types of art, including jewelry, metals, beading, portraits, oil and acrylic paintings.

Each of these artists indicate they receive inspiration for their work from different sources, but the one theme in common amongst them all is that they love what they do.

Alea Hughes is a senior, and said she is excited about her future in the arts. She uses pencil, thread, coffe, tea, sharpie and acrylic paints to create her work.

Colleen Alair Johnson paints portraits in her St. Charles studio using pastels. She finds joy in capturing a personality in each painting.

Matt "Rebel" Jones creates acrylic paintings from his mind, and is inspired by music, martinis and wine. He enjoys pushing the envelope of textures and color.

Kathlyn Miller loves the vibrant colors she creates with fused glass. Her one-of-a-kind pieces have a luminescence about them she just loves.

Cory Lawson is very passionate about her glass beads from fire and metal making skills, including her unique metal clasps. She has been creating her pieces for 15 years.

Robin Ragsdale is inspired by nature, and uses bronze and copper to create unique metal clay pieces of jewelry. She absolutely loves working with metals.

Nancy Kohler adds many hand-painted materials to her jewelry. Her work also includes silver metal clay and beads, which are her favorite item to make.

Michael McKinney's paintings all have a story behind them. He creates his art to imitate life.

Steve Quinlan works with oil and acrylics and loves painting landscapes and sea scapes from his travels as well as windows and doors.

Schnucks store manager, Kevin Downes, said he thought this is a great event showing off these artists and their work, and he has plans to have even more art shows down the road.

A wine tasting also is being sponsored at the store by Mt. Pleasant and Montelle/Augusta wineries. Both the wine and pieces of art will be available Sunday at the Wildwood Schnucks from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
