Last Concert on Central Avenue Held

This season's Concerts on Central in Eureka have become a popular summertime event for area residents to enjoy food, drinks and live music.

staffers held their final 2011 Concerts on Central summer series on Aug. 19. These 'block party' style events took place in Old Town Eureka on Central Avenue. This section of Eureka has become a popular night spot, offering several social and casual atmosphere restaurants, such as , , and . Two new additions will be Johnny's Place and an Irish Pub when they open. serves cold beer, wine, soda and water, while at the other end of Central street, Sno Biz offers snow cones. This is where kids like to chill out.

Every third Friday of the month, April through August, Eureka closed Central Avenue from the railroad tracks to Bald Hill to host the concerts from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Area residents, families and friends enjoyed food and drinks from local businesses while taking in the sounds of live music.

The band Midnight Drive played on stage for the last concert. Each month, a different live band played offering different varieties of music from country to classic rock.
