Kids' Art Auction Benefits Family Enrichment Resource Program

Organization offers programs for families in St. Louis, Jefferson, and Franklin counties.

Last weekend's fundraiser for the area's Family Enrichment Resource Program, held at the  in Eureka, raised money for the organization's family programs.  The group is affiliated with Eureka-based , but its programs are available to the community.

“At all of the Creative Expressions locations, we had painting sessions for the children to create the artwork for the auction,” said Stacey Schwartz, a board member of the group. “Cenveo generously donated lots of paper for us to use in the art project."

Three judges from the community later judged the artwork, and chose the 55 pieces that the group framed for the fundraiser. During a silent auction at the fundraiser, these pieces were sold.

Judges from the artistic community who donated their time and also their artwork to the fundraiser included Michelle Ochonicky, Ira Price and Anita Philips. A live auction was held for the donated artwork of the three artist judges.

Programs available through the Family Enrichment Resource Program include a monthly “Parent's Night Out.”

“This is held this is held on the third Saturday of every month at Creative Expressions Daycare Center in Eureka,” said Schwartz.  There is a minimal cost for the service.  Other community activities have included a craft night, cookie decorating session, movie night, a father-daughter dance, a mother-son masquerade, cooking classes and exercise classes.

Last year the group hosted a free community health fair that was held at the in Eureka.  More than 60 agencies were represented. “Our organization is new,” said Schwartz, “but we are hoping that it will grow and that people in need of resources can come to us. We see ourselves as a place where families can come when they need help.  Our goal is to prevent child abuse and neglect,” she added.

Director of the group is Carol Constantin, and board members include: Tim Jones, Shari Leach, Tracy McKillips, Pam Morff and Stacey Schwartz.  For more information about the group and their programs, call 636-938-3999 or visit the organization's website
