Hit Me With Your Best Shot: Wildwood Photo Contest Begins July 1

Ready your cameras, aspiring photographers, the annual Wildwood Calendar Contest is about to begin.

Amateur photographs can send in their best photos (up to three) to calendarcontest@cityofwildwood.com beginning on 8 a.m., July 1. The contest runs through 4 p.m., July 26, with thirteen winners chosen from the all the submissions to have their shots featured in the upcoming year's calender. 

You can also help judge the event yourself, as all entries will be placed on the city’s website and open to voting by the public.

Contest Rules:

• Only photographs taken by amateur photographers will be allowed.
• Entries will be received from 8:00 a.m., July 1, 2013 through 4:00 p.m., July 26, 2013.
• Entries should be submitted via e-mail to calendarcontest@cityofwildwood.com.
• Entry information must be submitted with each photograph (see entry information below). Additionally, all entries must include an agreement to the following: You agree that you shot the photograph and it is now the property of the City of Wildwood and you grant permission to allow the photograph to be used by the City in the calendar and/or future articles, ads, web pages, promotional, and/or other materials.
• Photographers do not need to be residents of the City of Wildwood, Missouri.
• Participants may submit up to three (3) photographs.

Photograph Requirements:

• MUST be in a digital format.
• Can be either color or black and white.
• Must have been taken between September 1, 1995 (the City's incorporation date) and July 26, 2013.
• Must have been taken within the City limits of Wildwood.
• Entries from past contests will not be accepted.
• Subject matter of the photographs is limited to landscapes, buildings/structures, or wildlife scenes. Photographs containing a person or persons will be accepted, only if, based upon the judges' determination, it or they are incidental to its theme.
• Must submit entry information and release, with photograph.

Helpful Hints:

• To ensure a quality calendar will be produced, do not reduce the size of the photograph.
• Do not submit photographs that are nearly identical. Pick your favorite. By submitting photographs that are similar, you may cause the votes to be disbursed among them, leading to none receiving enough to win a place in the calendar.

Entry Information:

• Each submittal must be accompanied by the following information:
• Name, Mailing Address, Telephone Number, and E-mail of Photographer.
• Location where photograph was taken.
• Acknowledgement that, by submitting, you agree the photograph was shot by you, is now the property of the City of Wildwood, and may be used in any of its future publications.

Winners:

• All entries will be placed on the City's website and open to a vote of the public.
• The final selections will be completed by a panel of photography judges, who will use the voting completed by the public as a key factor in their review process.
• On-line voting will take place between August 6, 2013 through August 22, 2013.
• The professional judging will be completed by September 27, 2013.
• Winners for the calendar will be announced on the City's website no later than October 2, 2013.
• The thirteen (13) winners (cover and twelve (12) months) will receive their photographs published in the City's annual calendar, which is sent to all of the City's 13,000 households. They will also receive five (5) free copies of the calendar, and several items of Wildwood Gear.
