Green Rock Trail Challenge Rescheduled

Last weekend's severe weather forced the event's cancellation, so it is now set for June 15.

The area's avid hikers disappointed by the cancellation of last Saturday's Green Rock Trail Challenge can take heart, the annual event has been rescheduled for June 15.

The city of Wildwood called off the popular 10th annual event after last weekend's severe weather caused a rapid deterioration of the trail's conditions, stressing a need to ensure the safety of participants.

They announced Tuesday that they had rescheduled the event due to its popularity. Hikers interested in taking part can register online

The hike covers 6.5 mile of relatively rugged terrain starting at Missouri’s Rockwood Reservation and ending at the Muckerman Shelter in Greensfelder Park. A description of the event on Wildwood's website describes it as "an incredibly beautiful hike, always pleasing to the adventurer and, disappointing to no one."

Hikers/participants will meet at the Muckerman Shelter in Greensfelder Park at 7:30 a.m. and will be bussed to Rockwood Reservation to begin the hike. Lunch will be provided at the Muckerman Shelter after the hike is completed.
