'Girls' Night Out' at The Wallach House was Standing Room Only

The event showcased the Eureka store's new collections of jewelry, apparel and home furnishings.

It was standing room only at The Wallach House during its April Fools' Day Girls' Night Out. This free event was so well attended that many attendees resorted to double parking and had to move their cars when they blocked someone in.

There have been a lot of changes at Eureka's in the last year, and all for the good. What started as a typical antique store has morphed into a business that appeals to a wider customer base.

The and , both previously located on Central Avenue, have new spaces at the historic old house. “We love having them here,” said building owner Mary Wallach.  “I’m glad we were able to help keep these hometown businesses in Eureka."

Both businesses are a good fit with the clientele at the Wallach House, and they add a lot to the already considerable charm of the old building. The Wallach House operation has been in Eureka for the last 20 years.

Other changes include the addition of new merchandise lines, including a popular line of dresses and tops, new jewelry, shoes and home accessory lines.

More than 150 women for the event. A wide variety of appetizers, beverages and desserts were available. “We made all of the food for the girl’s night out. Solid Rock Kaffe donated their famous chicken salad sandwiches,” said Wallach.

Wine was available for a fee, and served in neon-colored blinking glasses.  “This is so bling!” one wine sipper said, marveling at the colorful glass.  “I simply have to have a whole set of them."

Attendees were given a goodie bag when they signed in, and 30 door prizes were awarded throughout the evening.  One lucky winner received a gift basket worth $375.

A wine sampling by Laurie at the The Faded Rose, a nail-decorating demonstration with Nails by Sherrie and scarf-tying demonstration from Ellen entertained and informed shoppers.

Twigs & Blossoms had a "make it and take it" craft activity, and Wool Gatherings with Lisa and Jari also offered a simple craft for participants to take home.

“We’ve had 'Girl’s Night Out’ events before,” said Wallach. “But this year, due to the economy, we decided to make it a free event. This is a great way to thank our customers for a great year.”
