The home originally was built by dermatologist Dr. Wallace Stuart and his son, Wallace Stuart II, in the 1960s, according to an article published in Rural Missouri.

Local historians indicate Stuart developed the castle around an old house that was built near the time of the St. Louis World's Fair in 1904.

"These pics don't do justice for all that's in there. Being around construction all those years, I was in awe. The stone and millwork were just awesome," said Bryan Kiefer, historical society president.

Kiefer said one member, Rose Rodenbaugh, lived in that area for years and amazed them with stories going back to her teens.

Historical Society Vice President Marilyn Leistner also shared her past of this intriguing building.

"It is a thing of beauty and construction beauty," said Kiefer.
