Eureka Days 2011 Coming Soon

Eureka's annual, fall community fair is expected to be the best yet, adding more games, rides and several new events.

Eureka Days 2011 Fair—which is themed 'Home is Where the Heart Is'—will be held Sept. 8-10. Kristin Christenson, Eureka Parks and Recreation Department events coordinator, expects this year's fair to be the best ever, given the number of additional activities and classic favorites.

Participants can enjoy a variety of carnival rides, fireworks, a parade, car show/Cruise, Run for Sight 5K Run/Walk, Kids' Korner, beer garden, live music, food, games, and the products of nearly 100 vendors.

In addition to traditional favorites, Eureka Days' organizers added four new events: a trampoline bungee, a free rock climging wall by the U.S. Army, a volleyball tournament and at Talent Expo.

The Kids' Korner will offer several new attractions as well from Radio Disney and KinderMusic. Admission for the Kids' Korner will be $2, and participants can come and go as many times as they like.

Carnival ride preview night will kick off Eureka Days on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., while Friday will spotlight a Car Cruise/Car Show, Eureka Talent Show and live music by the Smash Band.

On that Saturday, the fair begins at 8 a.m. with a 5K Run/Walk, followed by a parade running through Old Town. A full day of events follows, including food, games, rides, live music by The Well Hungarians in the evening, and finally a spectacular fireworks display. 

Carnival ride tickets will be on sale now to Sept. 7 at the following locations:

  • Eureka Chamber of Commerce
  • Eureka Parks & Recreation Department
  • Commerce Bank – Eureka
  • – Eureka
  • – Eureka
  •  - Eureka
  • – Eureka

The cost of advance tickets is $18 for a sheet of 24 tickets. Onsite, the same sheet of 24 tickets will be $20. Or single tickets can be purchased for $1 each.

Parking will not be available on the park grounds, however there are shuttle busses available both Friday and Saturday.

On Saturday, Central Avenue in Eureka will be closed at Fourth Street through Bald Hill Road.

Note that carnival ride times will be:

Sept. 8:  5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Sept. 9:  5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Sept. 10:  8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
