Eureka Cheerleaders Host Car Wash

To raise funds for their upcoming season, Eureka High School cheerleaders washed cars, trucks and vans Saturday at the Wildwood Town Center area.

One of the cutest customers that Eureka High School cheerleaders ran across Saturday during their car wash was Beans, a 3-year-old English Bulldog owned by Mark Mantler, of Wildwood. Beans was a good sport about the car wash, trying to get to the water that was splashing onto "his" windshield.

The 50-member cheerleading squad raised funds for their upcoming season, especially overall transportation costs, said coach Lindsey Mueller. She said the three squads represent freshman, junior varsity and varsity. Saturday they operated from an area across from the city's garage near the , often getting a boost of customers from people attending the Wildwood Farmers' Market.

Mueller said the squads will head to Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, MO, to compete June 20-23. "This will be the first year for a while for the varsity to compete," she said.
