I pray this gets shot down again. I've heard the rumors for some time about the small town politics Read Morehere in Eureka and it appears they may well be quite valid. If the mayor and alderman choose to do what's right for their pocketbooks and not what is right for our community and it's citizens, I hope they have backup employment plans because I know not one single person who is for this. There is absolutely nothing to be gained by anyone other than the Winter Brothers. If you have read the free book that was handed out by Pete Winter, you will be amazed at to see how lucrative these ecological disasters are for him and his family. I wish they would use one of their other myraid properties to set up shop that wont impact so many families that can't afford to live near this proposed mine. It's sickening.

Just wanted to remind people of this impeding meeting, THIS THURSDAY at the Timbers. If you haveRead Moreany desire to keep your property values from plummeting as well as the quality of your airspace, I beg you to show up and speak out. This will have serious detrimental impact on our community. Tell the alderman, tell the mayor, talk to your neighbors. This is a losing situation for everyone other than the Winter Brothers.

Everyone 'in the know' seems to say this is a done deal, say goodbye to property values. Sold outRead Moreby lobbyists and politicians. Not sure why they are calling this a proposal, it's just a bunch of BS lip-service to make us feel like there's a different outcome available. This has clearly been in the works for some time (see the issue of the Current news magazine that arrived today), the land swap has already happened with the State Park. Wish we would have known about this before we purchased our home. Sick to my stomach.
