Power Herbs and Spices
I have talked to some of my personal clients about some herbs and spices that do amazing things for our bodies. Here's a list of my favorites!
1)Turmeric--This is the ultimate anti-inflammatory spice. I love it in my scrambled eggs, but some people eat it on chicken, rice, or veggie dishes. Sore muscles? Turmeric. Sore joints? Try Turmeric!
2)Cinnamon--Another awesome spice. This ingredient lowers LDL ("bad") cholesterol and triglycerides, and may lower blood sugar. It is a powerful antioxidant. Enjoy it on your morning oatmeal or in your post-workout smoothie or shake!
3)Oregano--1 teaspoon has as much antioxidants as 1/2 cup of chopped asparagus!
4)Ginger--Besides making your house smell amazing, this spice also has strong anti-inflammatory properties. For those of you suffering from an injury right now, we cannot fully heal until we can eliminate our inflammation!
5)Red Pepper flakes (or cayenne pepper)--Research suggests that an ingredient in red pepper flakes, capsaicin, may have fat burning properties, and other studies point to the powerful antioxidants in this spice.
