In addition to the rising prevalence of diabetes in the U.S., 79 million Americans have prediabetes, and without lifestyle changes, are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes within the next 10 years.
The YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program is a year-long lifestyle program that reduces the risk by healthier eating, increased activity and other behavioral changes.
Nationally, people in the program have lost an average 4.8 percent of body weight. For more info or to learn if you qualify, call Joyce Hoth at the YMCA of Greater St. Louis at 314-436-1177.
