Wildwood Woman Robbed at Gunpoint at Stroke of Midnight

Police are searching for two possible suspects who allegedly robbed a woman at gunpoint Thursday outside her Wildwood home just after midnight. Search helicopters and canine units were brought in to assist.

A female victim told St. Louis County Police Department-Wildwood (6th) Precinct officers she was outside her garage when a male suspect came up and robbed her at gunpoint at 12:02 a.m. Thursday. The armed robbery occurred in a cul-de-sac at Medicine Bow Drive and Gunnison Gorge Drive, which runs off Clayton Road about 1/4 quarter mile from Lafayette High School.

Officers surrounding the area determined two suspects were involved in this robbery.

The woman reported the first suspect was armed with a handgun, but it was not recovered at the scene. She said her purse was attached to a baby stroller, both of which were grabbed by the suspect.

She described the alleged robber was a light-skinned male in his late teens or early 20s. Authorities said the descriptions were "vague," but that the woman did not know the suspects.

No one is in custody, and the multiple-unit search has been suspended at this time.

The investigation is ongoing. It is now being handled by St. Louis County detectives in the Bureau of Crimes Against People.

Anyone with additional information or leads about this armed robbery should call the Wildwood Precinct at (636) 458-9194.

Is this a photo of the assailant (possibly from a security camera) or is this just a stock photo? Should we Wildwood citizens be watchful of someone who looks like this gunman?? Please explain the photo.

The Patch REALLY ought to NOT run this photo because it's actually not the suspect, but you have to click on the photo to find that out. Very confusing. I was confused, too, then clicked on the image and learned it was just a photo of what a suspect "might" look like. Informative story, but bad call on running the photo of who knows who this person is.

It is contained in the caption that is a file photo, only to simulate an armed robbery. This incident occurred at a Wildwood home in the dark; no images of the incident were captured.

I've lived in Wildwood now for 5 years and in that time, we've had roads closed for two people with guns, an elementary school shut down for an armed robbery and now this, all within 5 miles of my house. I lived in the city for 13 years and never had any of these things happen anywhere near my home. Ridiculous!

Thanks Julie. A caption does not appear for the photo on my iPhone... Even when clicking on the photo.

The Post described the attacker as a "white male, 5' 10" wearing a dark hoodie" so I uploaded a more helpful picture.

Have there been any updates on this incident? It's scary having this type of crime so close to home without a single lead.
