Two Females Injured in Accident on Westbound I-44 in Eureka

Two Pacific females were taken to a local hospital Thursday afternoon when the Jeep Liberty they were in overturned west of Six Flags Road in Eureka.

A driver and passenger were injured in a one-SUV accident in the westbound lane of Interstate 44, west of Six Flags Road, in Eureka on Thursday at 12:35 p.m. Both were taken to Mercy Medical Center by Eureka Ambulance.

Sadie Slade, 16 years old, was driving a 2003 Jeep Liberty when, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol report, she swerved to avoid hitting debris in the roadway. The Jeep then ran off the right side of the road, struck a rock wall and overturned.

The passenger in the Jeep was 14-year-old Judith Wertenberger, who also is a Pacific resident.

Both sustained moderate injuries. The driver was wearing a seat belt, according to the patrol report.

My high school friend helped pull them out of their car. She was really worried for them!
