Shoeman Water Projects Adopted by St. Mark's Lutheran Students

St. Mark's Lutheran School in Eureka is off to a great start for the 2012-13 school year.
 
Students already are working hard on their first service project of the year:  Helping Shoeman Water Projects, a non-profit organization whose volunteers raise money for wells and water purification systems in Africa. Students are donating shoes, chapel offerings and volunteer hours. Pastor George "The Shoeman" Hutchings recently stopped by St. Mark's School to say hello and attend weekly chapel service with students.  

St. Mark's students also are enjoying the addition of a new, state-of-the-art media center, which features new Dell computers, updated software and flooring from Zickel Flooring.

In addition, this summer, volunteers painted and reorganized the school's library collection, said Brenda Madden Kimberlin, LESA media coordinator.

Students began the new year with a back-to-school pot luck dinner for families and staff. They also picked out a new theme for the year:  "Equip-Serve-Achieve," and created a bulletin board to inspire students and staff to practice, said Madden Kimberlin.
