Severe Storm Has Potential for Damage

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for St. Louis County. Authorities urge everyone to stay inside until the warning has been lifted.

 

Tree damage, 60-mph wind gusts and some hail have been reported around the West St. Louis County area.

Six Flags St. Louis in Eureka shut down the rides about 30 minutes ago, due to nearby lightning bolts.

At the moment, thunder is prevailing in the Wildwood area.

Eureka's Code Red Alert went into effect moment's ago, warning about potential severe thunderstorms.

Please respond in the comments' section of this article if you spot damage or are rendered without electricity.

Update from National Weather Service at 7:53 p.m.:  THE STORM WHICH PROMPTED THE WARNING HAS WEAKENED BELOW SEVERE LIMITS...AND NO LONGER POSES AN IMMEDIATE THREAT TO LIFE OR PROPERTY. HOWEVER GUSTY WINDS ARE STILL POSSIBLE WITH THIS THUNDERSTORM.
