As Veterans Day weekend comes to a close, Eureka-Wildwood Patch would like to salute a particular, former U.S. Marine:  George Weber, aka The Old Blogger. He has faced many situations in his life, which readers get a glimpse of through his blogs. We are grateful for his perspectives and historical captures, as well as his military service on behalf of our freedoms.

As evidenced by Weber's ever-present cap, also in the accompanying photo, that sports the Latin words "Semper Fi," (translates to "Always Faithful"), he continues to wear it in support of his Marine experience. The phrase Semper Fidelis was adopted by the United States Marine Corps as its motto in 1883.

Weber attended the 9th annual Veterans Day Celebration conducted at Eureka High School Wednesday.

My understanding is that Mr. Weber has passed away. I assume there will be a tribute to him in the pages of Patch at some point, but wanted to drop a note of condolence to his family.

He was a good man, and will be missed by many.
