Rockwood Gifted Teacher Hired by Hazelwood School District
Samantha Anth, former Center for Creative Learning gifted education specialist within the Rockwood School District, will become director of the English Language Learners and Gifted programs for Hazelwood School District next month.
Samantha Anth, former Center for Creative Learning gifted education specialist within the Rockwood School District, was hired by Hazelwood School District Board of Education members as the director of the English Language Learners and Gifted programs, effective July 1.
Anth replaces Mara Berry, who is retiring, according to a Hazelwood news release.
With eight years of experience in education, Anth served in Rockwood as a gifted education specialist for kindergarten through sixth grades since 2004. She also has experience managing summer school programs and working as an administrative intern. She is an associate faculty member at University of Phoenix, according to the release.
She was named a building-level teacher of the year winner in 2010-11, and was nominated for the Rockwood Outstanding Service Excellence (ROSE) Award in 2010 and 2012. The release indicated she is a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society, Kappa Delta Pi National Education Honor Society and Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society.
Anth holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Western Michigan University and a master’s degree with a focus in gifted education from University of Missouri. She has a doctorate degree in educational administration from Lindenwood University, where she completed her dissertation entitled, “Designing a Middle School Gifted Education Program Using Current Gifted Programming Models.”
