Rockwood Board Candidate Withdraws

A Wildwood resident currently serving on the Rockwood School District board of education withdrew his candidacy for the April 3 election.

Geoff Rigabar, a Wildwood resident, withdrew his candidacy Tuesday from the Rockwood School District board of education April 3 election. Rigabar cited personal and professional responsibilities as factors in his decision now not to seek election, according to a district announcement.

“I am enjoying my service on the board. I continue to learn, and I continue to be impressed with the great work taking place for students in this outstanding district," Rigabar stated in the announcement today.

In November, Rigabar was selected by board of education directors to fill the position left open by Matthew Fitzpatrick, who resigned in October. (See related article:  Rockwood Board of Education Appoints Replacement)

Rigabar, who took the oath of office at the Dec. 1 board of education meeting, will continue serving on the board until April's general election.

Four other candidates will be seeking the two available slots:  Victor Hieken, Sherri Rogers, Jennifer Kelly and Bill Brown. Two new directors will be elected to each serve three-year terms.
