Police Helicopter Team Searches for Wildwood Man
An armed Wildwood man with a gun who is feared to have possibly harmed himself is being searched for by a St. Louis County helicopter team with infrared technology. The search is occurring near Melrose Road and Missouri Route 100.

Capt. Kenneth Williams, commander of the St. Louis County Police Department-Wildwood (6th) Precinct, said a tactical police team is evaluating the residence of a Wildwood man who lives off of Melrose Road, after the man's wife called police to the home when her husband appeared to be considering risky behavior with a gun.
"There has been no crime here, though," said Williams.
Patch is reporting live from the scene. On the ground, there are at least 20 police vehicles present in addition to Metro West Fire Protection District paramedics and firefighters. In the air is a team of Metro Air Support officers who are applying infrared technology to search for the man in the night-time situation.

"Everyone is working toward the welfare of the person," said Williams. "We'll take this one step at a time."
The identity of the man has not been reported.
Melrose Road is still completely closed off to motorists.

Thanks so much for keeping us updated!! We were at the Muny when we received the email update and our 19 y.o. daughter was at home -- very close to Melrose! We skipped the end of Dream Girls and booked it home... So relieved to hear he was captured. Looking forward to all the details tomorrow.

Yeah thanks for the quick update, i live extremely close to melrose and can still hear the helicopter. The last time i heard a chopper some dumb kids broke into this house and they all got busted. Thanks tO the infared cameras and what not, now those idiots are paying for the jet fuel which was over 10000

Glad the news alerts and updates helped. A large team of emergency responders, including a couple of canine teams, worked together tonight to execute a thoughtful but thorough approach to this matter. Also glad it had a good ending.

This was quite an exciting night on Melrose. I know all the people that live on Melrose in the area they closed off and was concerned for their welfare. A couple of our neighbors couldn't get home because they were blocked out. We were able to let them use our drive to park so they could get home.

I'm thankful it had a good ending for all...hope they get the troubled man some help and let him remain anonymous...does anyone really need to know his name? Sounds like a private matter that became a bit public when the poor wife needed some assistance...

The subject's name is Mike Stringer. His spouse, Sandra Stringer, is who called in the report. Professionally speaking I would steer clear of this residence and it's inhabitants. I have a feeling this is not the first or last time the law will have to be involved.
